FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
What is gigabit broadband?
Gigabit broadband is a new breed of connection to the Internet. It uses an optical fibre connection to your property that is capable of delivering much faster speeds than traditional services that rely upon a telephone line. With gigabit broadband, downloads will be much faster, watching films won’t be interrupted by the dreaded buffering messages and video calls will be smoother.
But I’ve already got fibre broadband….
It is possible that you may already have full fibre broadband, in which case you are already enjoying extremely fast Internet speeds. If your Internet speeds are not that great, then it is likely that your broadband has been sold to you as fibre but is in fact delivered over a telephone line. To check, simply look at where your broadband router plugs in. If it’s connected to a telephone socket, then you’re probably running on a legacy copper connection and won’t be able to enjoy ultrafast speeds.
Can I download as much as I like?
Yes, there’s no restrictions, data allowances or quotas. There is a fair usage policy, but this only applies to extreme cases. Ps. Every provider has a fair use policy but may not mention it – we like to be up front about having one.
Do I need a telephone line?
No, our service is delivered over an optical fibre connection directly to your property, meaning that you don’t need to pay for a phone line. If you do still need to make phone calls over a land line we can provide you with options that will work over your new optical fibre connection.
